Private Security Certificate Program
The private sector security field is extensive and has changed and evolved in response to societal needs. The security profession continues to grow rapidly in response to these needs. The development of foundational skills in terms of scope and responsibility, legal parameters, private and public sector intersection and private sector service opportunities are key areas of importance for individuals looking to start a career or advance in the field of private security.
Upon successful completion of the Private Security Certificate program, the participant will be proficient in understanding the nature of private sector security and the basis for private sector security needs. Roles and responsibilities, legal parameters and scope of services will be understood. Skill sets will be developed in key private sector security areas, including loss prevention, risk management, investigations, personal protection, building and cite security, and special event security. This Certificate also prepares the participant to provide a plan and secure an environment for their subject of protection. Students will be able to identify and prevent risks, plan response strategies, and control potential safety problems.
